Latest painting : 'Ode to the Cherry Beech'
90 cm x 100 cm, Acrylic paint and Ink on Linen.
Lino-printed seed capsule cross-sections of the species Ternstroemia cherryi.
This is inspired by memories of late one afternoon spent in the Daintree World Heritage National Park in Far North Queensland in November, 2012. Mardja Botanical Walk, a half hour walk at the south of Cape Tribulation, was a place very familiar to our guide that afternoon, Yalangi indigenous artist Sheryl Burchill. Sheryl had formally been a Park Ranger in this National Park so we were privileged indeed to have her leading us on a path through the rainforest and describing what we were seeing. The boardwalk reaches Oliver Creek, home of crocodiles, birds and other tropical creatures. Many photos were taken but its the mood of the Rainforest and Mangrove that lives on.
